About Saltwater South

Our mission

Saltwater South celebrates the places, people and experiences that make the coastal South unlike anywhere else. From Mississippi to the Carolinas, we help locals rediscover their own backyards and inspire travelers to find their next favorite place along the coast.

With stories from local writers who know the region best, we take readers beyond the obvious tourist spots to discover the under-the-radar oyster house, the uncrowded stretch of beach and the state park worth building a weekend around. We cover the food, culture, outdoor adventures and hidden gems that give the coastal South its character, while offering practical advice to help readers plan their next getaway — from choosing the right place to stay to booking a cruise or preparing for hurricane season.

There’s always more to explore along the coast, and we’re here to help you find it.
