Wish you were here: Savannah, Georgia’s Forsyth Park

Forsyth Park in Savannah Georgia

Like many things in Savannah, Forsyth Park has been around for a long time — it was established in 1841. But no matter how many times you’ve passed through its main square with its dramatic fountain and graceful oak trees, it’s hard not to be swept away by its beauty.

Considered the city’s crown jewel, the fountain was removed in 2025 for the first time in its 168-year history and carefully transported 300 miles to Alabama for much-needed cosmetic and functional repair. The restoration team found that it had accumulated 40 coats of paint over the years. After six months, the fountain is back and looking better than ever.
